Looks good, feels good By Doire These are soft enough to cushion an impact to a falling child’s head, but firm enough to crawl/walk on without deforming completely. They are light, the finish is easy to wipe clean, and they look good. We have a hardware floor and got these in preference to anything primary colored. While these are noticeably different to the hardwood floor, when you walk into the room they don’t jump out as gaudy. I’m very happy with the look, feel and finish of them. They fit together well, but not seamlessly.
We got 26 tiles for $40, which I feel is a good deal. I’m only giving this 4 stars rather than 5 because they don’t include the edging pieces, and charge an additional fee for the edge and corner pieces of almost $5 each, which makes the edges three times more expensive to buy than the other pieces that are much larger. Edging the 6×4 piece mat we made would cost more than 3 times the mat price, which is just silly. (It’s a question for their marketing folks, but I doubt it relates to manufacturing cost.) I’d also like to be able to buy an extension pack of, say, 10 more tiles to make it a 6×6 piece mat, but alas, no such option seems to be available.
All in all it’s a good buy, and I’d recommend them. I might even buy another complete set of 26 just to be able to extend it. I won’t be buying the exorbitantly priced edges and corners though. I’d take a Stanley knife to the ones I have first and make a linear edge myself.
NOTE: These tiles smelled very strongly of VOCs when we received them, and we had to let them gas out for a few days to let the smell dissipate enough for us to use them anywhere near our child. 3 days was enough. Don’t expect to use these immediately upon receipt.

Natural foam Mat By Wisconsin Looks nice. Too expensive if you buy the edging pieces. You will need an edge piece for each outer square of the mat — this adds up. Also, the edge pieces vary in fit and finish. The mat has a chemical smell that does not dissipate for a couple of months, even if you air it out outside. My child’s hair and clothes would smell like the mat after she’d played on it for awhile. The smell is suppose to be nontoxic, but it’s also suppose to dissipate in several days. This product is made in China. This mat is thicker than any others I found in the stores.

PEELS and SMELLS By Raelene Mercer i bought this matt and agree it looks great. but it stunk so much it gave me a headache just opening it up. I worry—–to sell this for a BABY seems cruel! i worry the fumes are toxic! i learned eva isnt toxic though, and used in many things like yoga mats and flip flops. so it may be the wood pattern printed on it? it really is strong smelling! like a black marker in front of your nose.
anyway, after many days airing out away from baby, we began using it and loved it. but two months went by and every single piece began peeling. the printed wood patter begain peeling off. a few squares were so bad no wood pattern remanied. i know what you are thinking: return it and be done with it. but i forgot about the horrible smell which had dissipated entirely, and i was addicted to the look of the mat, so i got a free replacement set. This replacement order is just as smelly as the last and i continue to get a headache when i’m even near it. it’s been 4 days now.still airing it out. i think this is my last buy of these matts, if they peel i will return it and get a floor rug. who knows whats less toxic to our baby at this point.
someone needs to investigate what VOCs are making this mat stink so much more than most other matts. i am worried we are hurting our children and ourselves. all for fashion.
