Love Mixed Chicks kids!!

My daughter is biracial. She has Korean and African American in her. Her hair is soooo thick it takes over an hour to comb through it!! Shes almost 8 yrs old and i had yet to find a product to work in her hair…until now! Mixed chicks is awesome! We use the kids shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner and the spray. We love it. My daughter can now brush her own hair in the shower and it only takes 10 minutes!!!! Her hair looks so much healthier and its not as frizzy. Its shiny and the curls are bouncy! Even my daughter has noticed what a difference it is! I highly recommend this product to anyone with curly curly hair! I am so glad i found mixed chicks!!!

NOT A MIRACLE

I had such high hopes for my little “mixed chick” but turned out disappointed. It is a good conditioner and really softened my daughter’s hair but it DID NOT make combing any easier. I used the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner: this also did not improve frizz after day one. The tiny bottle was only good for four uses (my girl has long hair). This product is no different than any deep-conditioning product that you comb-through and wash out after 5-10 minutes (like the Ion brand you find at Sally’s). Good luck! My search continues …

I have very curly, frizzy hair, that needs LOTS of leave in conditioner in order to keep the curls togther. This product is AMAZING. Very little products work for me, but this one does! It’s also VERY affordable and cruelty free. Smells amazing.

A Great Product in Useful Sizes

One of the hardest things about being a new mom is getting ready to take care of someone who’ve never met – who no one has ever met. You don’t know if baby has sensitive skin or will spit up all the time and always smell like sour milk, or be prone to rash, or have dry skin… You just try to be prepared.

This little kit is great for that reason: it helps you be prepared in more than one way. First, it lets you sample products without committing, and there’s enough of each item you get a reasonable length of time to try them out. If you or baby don’t like an item, it wasn’t a big investment. Second, the travel sizes are perfect for, well, traveling. I keep a huge diaper bag in the car, and also have a small clutch-style one that sees much more use – these products are light and not too bulky for carrying around everywhere.

As far as the Burt’s Bees products go, I’m a big fan. Their diaper cream is my favorite – it’s effective, thick and paraben-free. I like their soaps, though I’ve been using a big bottle of BabyGanics Foamin’ Fun Foaming Body Wash & Shampoo, Gentle Newborn Formula, Fragrance Free, Refill, 33.8-Fluid Oz Bottle at home and saving these small ones for trips. Once I use up my BabyGanics soap, I’ll probably replace it with Burt’s.

If you’re baby shower shopping, I think this would work well as part of a gift. There are five small products in it, and I wouldn’t suggest paying more than a few (2-3) bucks for each one; that should leave enough in your budget for a couple of related items (like a Fisher-Price Rainforest Bath Center or a few towels and washcloths, or even some bath time toys).

Cute for a baby shower gift

I had read some reviews that these look sort of “cheap” to give as a baby shower gift, but I disagree. For under $11 I got small sizes of many products I wanted to try out, without having to spend the same if not more on each individual full sized item to try them. I think this paired with some bath toys or baby towels would make a cute baby shower gift. The other thing that I like is that the sizes are small so I can take them in my diaper bag. I don’t know how much I really need a small bar of soap or 1.0 fl oz of baby oil (although I can try it out this way) but I do really like the 0.75 oz diaper ointment, 1.8 fl oz baby shampoo/wash, and the 1.0 oz lotion. These small sizes are nice for two reasons: 1. I can put these in my diaper bag for daycare and not worry about them losing my larger sizes. 2. I can put these in my diaper clutch (small diaper bag) and they are small enough that it doesn’t defeat the purpose of carrying a compact diaper bag by weighing it down.
My only suggestion to Burt’s Bee is that instead of the bar of soap and baby oil I would have liked to see the dusting powder or multipurpose ointment in this package, since I would like to try those out in smaller sizes before ordering in the larger amounts.

We try to buy her Nature’s Best Organics but they frequently do not have prunes and Delia demands prunes. Prolly because Earth’s Best used a lot of bananas which can stop a baby up. Trying to wean her off…but as long as she wants them, I’ll order them for her.

Great value!

I had one of these for my first son 4 years ago and got rid of it when he outgrew it due to no storage in our apartment. I have another son now and we purchased another one. I love this product and had to review it since I saw so many negative reviews about it.

It isn’t the bounciest toy in the world but I hadn’t even THOUGHT about that when my first son used it. He used it from about 5 months until 10 months or so and it was wonderful. He jumped up and down constantly…not as HIGH as maybe a jumperoo would go, but he was still able to bounce, exercise, and smile all day long. My baby now is just under 4 months and is still too small to JUMP but he likes to stand, look around, and play with the toys. This keeps him occupied for long periods of time when I’m cooking, showering, etc.

My husband put this together w/no problems but it did take a little while. Unlike a few other reviewers, we have not had any problem adjusting the height on this OR the last one we had. I’ve found it to be easy.

I think for a $35 baby product you can’t get any better than this. We aren’t in a position to buy the $70+ exersaucers and this is a great alternative.

Misleading Product Name

I purchased this for my 4 month old daughter because she loves to bounce. You’d think with the word “bounce” in it’s name TWICE, the Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone would be at least a little bit bouncy. Not so. There is virtually nothing bouncy about this thing, it just has a little platform held on by elastics that gives a little under her weight.

The colors are appealing and she seemed to like the toys but I bought it so she could get some exercise and that just wasn’t going to happen with this product.

I ended up returning this and getting the Fisher-Price Precious Planet Jumperoo and, even though it’s twice as much, she seems to actually have fun in it.

I bought this for my 4 month old son. He really likes it and he seems to really enjoy the standing position. He always gives me big smiles when he sees me from across the room. This has been great for me to be able to set him in a safe area for him to play in while I can get some other things done. Very nice product and the colors are very cute.

prickly heat…….gone!

my daughter has sensitive skin and is prone to getting prickly heat rashes in the summer. there was little i could do to give her relief because she is two young for topical medications and the only advice when i asked at the pharmacy was petroleum jelly. someone gave me this powder as a gift so, i decided to see if it might help and to my surprise the rash was gone within an hour. i have used it many times now with consistent results and am very pleased with this product. it has a nice smell also.

Best dusting powder!!

I love this powder!! I agree it smells heavenly, a subtle floral without being overbearing. Baby Bee (I love the name, it’s so cute) goes with any fragrance I want to wear or is just delightful all by itself. It’s nicely absorbant and because it doesn’t have talc it doesn’t get all over your clothes. I use it all day when I want to feel a little lift because it just smells so good. It’s nice to use at bedtime, too. Although I don’t have a baby, I can’t imagine a nicer powder to use on a little one. I think a basket of Baby Bee things would be the loveliest baby shower gift. I also like that it comes in a shaker container so I can take it with me as well as put it in a powder jar. The best puff to use is the big fluffy lambswool puff made by Caswell Massey that I got on Amazon.

Great alternative to traditional baby powder!

I love using this powder on my baby. It smells great, is a great alternative to talc (which is no good) and keeps her dry after a bath or following a diaper change. Any time she had some irritation in the diaper area or neck (in the skin folds), this clears things right up. I have also gifted it to several parents who love it as well.

Best I’ve tried

This brush works very well with the Dr Brown’s standard bottles. The handle on the big brush is comfortable and the mini brush cleans the nipples well. (You have to air dry them separately.) It lasts approx 2-3 months before the sponge starts to fall apart, but it’s probably not sanitary to use a brush for longer than that anyway.

handle broke on 3rd use…garbage!

Don’t waste your money, the part of the handle where plastic meets wire separated permanently on 3rd use.The assembly of the parts is cheap. The wire is crammed into the plastic, only about a 1/4 inch and has no proper threads to hold it in place. A few twists inside the bottle and it was in two pieces. It’s junk!

Sponge tears easily

This brush does the job of cleaning bottles and nipples. The small nipple brush works great. However, the sponge tears easily. The sponge cannot withstand repeated everyday use. Mine started to tear by week 2. By week 4, only parts of the sponge remain. My previous brush was the Dr. Brown brand. The sponge on that brush lasted much longer. I will go back to that brand.

All in all, the Munchkin brand works. It just doesn’t last long enough for me.

Listen to the reviews- Just buy items separately

I vaguely remember reading reviews for this product when I registered for it. In my pregnancy induced happy haze, I disregarded people’s complaints about some of the item in the kit. I should have listened, so I ask you listen now. You are much better off buying items that you will need separately. It seemed like a good idea to just get this kit and cover all my bases. I’d never had a baby before, I figured that someone had figured out what I needed for me and put it in this kit. This is partially true.

In the first few months, you will need a digital thermometer, a bulb syringe/aspirator, nail clippers or file, and hair brush or comb. These are the things from the kit that I have used so far- my daughter is 9 months old. So, out of 17 items, I’ve used 5 or 6. The other 11-12 have not been touched.

Of the items, I’ve used, I didn’t like most of them. The bulb syringe is impossible to squeeze and offers no suction- useless. The thermometer seems to take forever to take a reading, which is no good with a squirmy baby. The nail clipper have been okay, I still use it, but I bet there are better ones you can buy separately- I’ve been meaning to get some. I had to remove the plastic cover from the clippers in order to see baby’s nails better- the first time I used them I cut my daughter’s finger because I couldn’t see them well.

I like the brush and comb. But I would like any brush and comb, I’m sure.

I’ve ended up buying a new thermometer (that I love) and a new aspirator (that I also love). Yes, you will probably spend more money buying items separately, but that is because the stuff that comes in this kit is cheaply made. If you are an expectant parent and trying to plan for your first baby, just get a good rectal thermometer (I have a Vicks that I like) some good nail clippers or a tiny nail file, and maybe a little brush for baby’s hair. The hospital will give you a good bulb syringe when you deliver. That is all you will need the first few weeks, and you should have quality products that work well. This kit will most likely disappoint.

Some of the items in this kit are great: soft baby toothbrush, medicine spoon, brush. Some are very outdated and hard to use: nail clippers, comb. The case is OK,but the items look cheaply made.There are better products on the market.

useless extras

Some of the items here are ok but there are a lot of useless items. You’l never use the rattle, medicine spoons (dropper already in any medicine you buy), and the clippers. The nasal aspirator is ok because it has the release valve, good for cleaning. I also use the thermometer, which is nice and small for rectal temps.

Good infant toy. I may have some answers for problems listed in other reviews!

I’m not a huge fan of Baby Einstein stuff, but my son loved this octopus as an infant. We would play the songs for him again and again and he seemed to like it. One thing they don’t show you is that the underbelly of the octopus is colorful and a baby likes to look up at the BOTTOM of the octopus, not just the face part. We hung this toy (has a velcro strap on top) over our son’s bassinet when he was awake during the days. When we took it down to play with it with our son, we would sometimes spin it around while he looked at the bottom of it. It held his attention so he must have liked it.

It is soft and (I thought) a decent size. It’s true that it doesn’t “sit up” well for long. It ends up getting kind of floppy-headed and its head will lean back on its legs when it’s set down on the floor. This doesn’t affect its use in any way, it’s just an annoyance for those of us who keep trying to get its head to sit up nice.

The songs are played by pressing on the head. It IS really sensitive, but that’s so a baby can make it work. The color words are played by pressing the circles on the feet. They are too difficult for a baby to work.

I didn’t mind the music, although I agree with one reviewer who said one of the songs reminded her of circus music. There is one song which is kind of frentic (I called this one “the crazy song”). The music is very electronic sounding, not soothing. This toy is definitely designed for play time.

My son is almost 2 now and we still have the Octoplush. Here are my observations after having this thing for so long:

1) The toy will go crazy when the batteries are low. Before they stop working, they seem to make the toy act bizarre and work in weird ways. If your Octoplush is acting up, it may be the batteries need to be changed.

2) The songs are long (as one reviewer pointed out). But you can stop the music at any time by pushing one of the buttons on the feet. It’ll say “blue” (or whatever color you push) and then be quiet.

3) My son can barely get the feet buttons to work even now. I can get them to work just fine (it’s not broken), but even a young child (not a baby) has trouble with it.

4) It’s true that you can choose English, French, or Spanish for the color words. That’s great, but I can speak enough French and Spanish to tell that some of these words are pronounced so poorly that it’s hard to make out what the little electronic voice is saying (some of them make me laugh). Don’t expect your child to “pick up” all these words while blithely playing with the Octoplush. The quality is not good enough for that. If the recordings were better (which would be easy for the company to do), then maybe so. This is the main reason why I don’t give this toy a 5-star rating. I think this is its biggest fault…the poor quality of the recordings for the words (including the English too).

But that being said, this toy only costs about $12 so I think it’s well worth the price.

This guy is awesome!

My daughter received this toy for Christmas. It quickly became a favorite of hers and therefore my husband’s and mine as well. Baby girl is 9 months old now, and this guy keeps her entertained during diaper changes, toweling off after a bath, or anytime we need to put her down for a second to grab a diaper or a change of clothes. She has really put him through his paces and he holds up well. He’s been spit up on, chewed remorselessly, even chucked into the diaper pail and he always comes out unscathed.

One of Baby’s Favorite Toys

My daughter is 4 months old and we have to take this toy with us whenever we visit friends of family. It plays music fine for her and the colors work. The only problem we have is that she listens to the music so often that the tunes get stuck in your head.
